“Now you practice patience and understand that consistent effort is important, regardless of the result on hand.”
How much I love this part because to think of it, when we anticipate growth it is not without patience. The older I get —and I think I'm very old...LOL— the more I want to do things right.
ohohoho, lots that resonates in reading this. felt like a younger version of me!
the letter felt like the father in you talking to a younger self you wanted to leave behind.
i think this serves as an amazing way marker, to reflect upon as you move forward on your journey.
also, the accountability is great. i feel at the end, you used this letter to reaffirm your goal of achieving your doctorate. which i cheer you on for, that is a momentous undertaking.
some parts that i will highlight that caught my attention. to which i will offer areas to reflect because id wager there is room for growth!
"dealing constructively with the pain of problem solving" - why is problem solving a pain? and what does dealing with it constructively mean?
"not liking the feeling of hard work sans positive results" - is it reassurance you seek? it is validation? and why don't you like the lack of it?
"Just let go of the old version of yourself if it no longer serves you." - how are you going to let go? what if it doesn't want to leave?
"Let go of the fear of failure" - where does the fear come from? what hurts about failure?
"The urge to have everything figured out NOW" - if you figured it all out now, what else is left to enjoy? surely life is about figuring it out as you go, no?
i hope that those prompts reveal deeper realisations Tristan.
and to conclude, i will say bravo, huge props to you for sharing something very vulnerable, raw, honest and YOU. this is you, and its awesome. and you will achieve your dreams, you just gotta live it in real-time. all in good time my friend. keep walking the path.
Tristan this is SO inspiring!
You offered us time travel on the page! We get to see life unfolding in fast forward.. past you.. meets present you! LOVE IT!
And your last words feel like they are ready to be tattooed or bumper stickered on - 'When in doubt, choose love'.
It's one of those phrases that lingers sweetly on the mind after it's read.
Thank you for this inspiring walk through time.
I'm going to go and write my letter now to my future self. XO
YES!!!! Happy writing 😆🎉
Carl Jung would be proud, great read thanks for sharing Tristan
Thank you Jackson
What would Carl Jung be proud of?😆
the letter! A huge part of Jung's individuation process & self realization is writing to yourself.
